APSC is Assam Public Service Commission is a constitutional body, who recruits personnel in various Assam Government posts and services. It conducts Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) to recruit eligible candidates for Assam Civil Service, Assam Police Service and other allied services.
The services offered by the APSC exam are as follows:-
Assam Civil Service, Assam Land &Revenue Service, Assam Police Service, Labour Officer, Superintendent of Taxes, Asstt. Registrar of Cooperative Societies Inspector of labour, Inspector of Taxes, Inspector of Excise, Asstt. Employment Officer and many more.
APSC Examination consists of three stages : Preliminary Examination , Main Examination and Interview.
Preliminary Examination
Prelims is the first and most important stage in APSC. This exam consists of two papers. Multiple choice questions are there in this section. Aspirants must pass this examination to proceed in the main examination.
- GS I – 2 Hours – 200 Marks – 100 Questions – 2 Marks per question
- GS II (CSAT)- 2 Hours – 200 Marks – 80 Questions
Main Examination and Interview
The Main Examination consists of a written Examination and a viva-voce test. Candidates who are declared qualified in the Main Examination shall be summoned for a viva-voce test. The viva-voce test carries 275 marks . The questions of the Main Examination will be conventional essay type:

- Paper II- GS I- Indian Heritage & Culture, History & Geography of the World & Society
- Paper III- GS II – Governance, Polity, Constitution
- Paper-IV- GS III – Science & Tech, Economics, Economical Development, Environment, Biodiversity, Security & Disaster Management.
- Paper-V- GS IV – Ethics, Integrity & Aptitude
- GS – Paper on Assam
- Optional Subject paper 1
- Optional Subject Paper 2
- Total Marks – 8 x 250 = 2000
Interview Test: Marks 275
The candidates are interviewed by a Board which takes into account their academic career. The marks scored in the interview are added to the marks scored in the written examination (Main) and the rankings of the candidates are determined on the basis of the total marks obtained.
UPSC is Union Public Service Commission is India’s premier central recruiting agency. It is responsible for appointments to and examinations for All India Services and group A & group B of Central services.

STAGES IN CIVIL SERVICES EXAM | UPSC Exam Stages
UPSC Civil services exam is conducted in three phases and notification for exam generally comes in April and Prelims falls in August. The prelims result comes in September. The Mains exam falls in December and result is out mostly in Feb/ March
Stage I A preliminary examination or CSAT (Objective Section) consisting of two objective-type papers (general studies and aptitude test).
Stage II A main examinationis subjective section, consisting of nine papers of conventional (essay)
Interview After these two stages there is a Personality Test which is mostly conducted in months of March and April. Final result comes out in May/ June.
