Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) :

There is a various combined graduate level examination to recruit Assistants, Inspectors, sub inspectors, assistant enforcement officer, statistical investigators, auditors, junior accountants, tax assistants and sub inspectors in CRPF, SSB and BSF. These staffs will be posted in the departments of ministries, Food Corporation of India (FCI), departments of official language, ministries of government of India, CPWD and MES. There is advance schedule fixed by the SSC for a year.

SSC CGL Syllabus

General English:

Spotting Errors ,Idioms & Phrases, Cloze Test, Multiple Meaning, Parajumbles, Paragraph Completion, Reading Comprehension, Sentence Correction, One Word Substitution, Synonyms & Antonyms, Vocabulary , Fill In The Blanks (Verbs, Prepositions, Articles Etc), Rules Of Spelling, Analogy etc.

Reasoning Ability

Alphabet & Numbers, Classification, Statement Assumption, Coding & Decoding,  Analogy Test, Direction Sense Test, Problem Solving, Sitting Arrangement, Analytical Symbolic Conclusion, Blood Relation, Letter Series, Logical Venn Diagram, Syllogism, Statement Conclusion, Puzzle Test, Mathematical Operation, Input Output, Order & Ranking, Non-Verbal Reasoning , Figure Counting Etc.

Quantitative Aptitude

Number System – 1 (Cover LCM & HCF), Mensuration, Area & Volume, Problem On Average, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Partnership, Profit & Loss, Alligation & Mixture, Simple Interest And Compound Interest, Data Interpretation, Time & Work, Problem On Age, Data Sufficiency, Pipes & Cisterns, Probability, Time & Distance, Quadratic Equation (Square Root And Simplification), Boat& Stream, Permutation & Combination Number Series & Missing Number, Surds & Indices, Problems On Trains, Progression, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry Etc.

General Awareness:

Knowledge of Current Events, Sports, History, Geography, General Science, Computers, Culture, Indian Constitution, Government Schemes, Awards and Honors, Books and Authors, News on India and its Neighbouring Countries, Inventions & Discoveries etc.

Computer Aptitude

Computer Awareness, History of computers, Computer Hardware, Operating System concepts, Shortcut keys, MS Word Excel, MS Power Point, Access, Internet & Networks, Basic Security Concepts, Latest Technologies etc.

SSC CGL EXAM PATTERN

The eligibility criteria for CGL examination is graduation. The candidates who are appearing in final year are also eligible to take part in this exam. Once every year SSC conducts CGL examination. The Examination Process consists of a 3 Tier process which is as follows:-

SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam Pattern

It is Computer based written Examination containing overall 100 questions in 75 minutes and 200 Marks. These questions will be distributed equally between

1. General Intelligence and Reasoning Section (25 Questions/ 50 Marks)
2. Quantitative Aptitude Section (25 Questions/ 50 Marks)
3. English Section (25 Questions/ 50 Marks)
4. General Awareness Section (25 Questions/ 50 Marks)

SSC CGL Tier-II Exam Pattern

    It is Computer based written Examination. It will contain 4 Papers out of which two are mandatory and two are optional.

1. Paper I-Quantitative Aptitude which is a mandatory paper consisting 200 marks , 100 questions and 2 hours duration
2. Paper II- English Language & Comprehension which is a mandatory paper consisting 200 marks, 200 questions and 2 hours duration
3. Paper III- for those candidates who have applied for Statistical Investigator Post.
4. Paper IV- for those candidates who have applied for Asst. Audit Officer.

SSC CGL Tier-III Exam Pattern

It includes Pen and Paper Based Descriptive Test of 1 hour and 100 Marks.

This paper comprises with Essay Writing of 200 to 250 words and Letter or Application writing of 150 to 200 words. And you have to choose your language to write paper which means Hindi or English.Minimum Qualifying marks for this paper is 33% only.Questions in Descriptive Paper will be on 12th Level.

SSC CGL Tier-IV Exam Pattern

It includes Skill Test/ Computer Proficiency Test (Wherever Applicable)

This tier is comprises of Data Entry Skill and (CPT) Computer Proficiency Test. And those candidates who have applied for Tax Assistant Post they all have to appear for Skill Test (In Central Excise and Income Tax) and those candidates who have applied for Assistant Section officer post they all have to appear for Computer Proficiency Test.

Final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks in Mains and Interview ( weightage: 80% Written test & 20% Interview )

Note: Interviews have been discontinued from 2016 onwards.

Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination(CHSL)

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts one of the famous exams of the country which is the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination. SSC conducts CHSL exam for the recruitment of Data Entry Operator (DEO), Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant & Court Clerk. It is one of the most preferred exams among young generation.

SSC CHSL Tier -I Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL Tier -I is Online. There will be 100 questions for which Candidates will get 75 minutes. It includes 4 sections i.e. General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness

SSC CHSL Tier -II Exam Pattern

Order of the Section of Exam but you can start from any section:
A) Letter Writing
B) Essay writing
Tier-II Paper of CHSL will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper Mode . The duration of the paper would be for one hour .This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary in Government jobs. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter / Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent. The performance in Tier II would be included for preparing merit. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.

SSC CHSL Tier -III Exam Pattern

Tier-III of the Examination would continue to be the Skill Test / Typing Test which would be of a qualifying nature. The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II.
Skill test for Data Entry Operator:
Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer.
The ‘Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage and the duration of the said Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000- 2200 strokes/key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer.

Typing Test for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant LDCs and Court Clerks:
Typing Test will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in the Computer based Written Examination (Tier-I) and Descriptive Paper (Tier-II). Such Typing Test will be conducted in English or Hindi and candidates while applying for the Examination, will have to indicate his/her choice/option for Skill Test Medium in the Application Form.
Typing Test will be of qualifying in nature. It will be administered on the Computer, to be provided by the Commission or any agency authorized by the Commission.
Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute and those opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute. The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes. Visually Handicapped candidates (with 40% disability and above) will be allowed 30 minutes.
